TOUBKAL 4,167M CIRCULAR TREKKING AND SUMMIT

He Toubkal, At 4,167 meters, it is the highest peak in North Africa. It is located in Toubkal National Park, in Morocco, which was established during the French protectorate in 1942. It covers an area of 100,000 hectares and is situated in the Western High Atlas Mountains, between the N'Fiss and Ourika valleys.

Toubkal is a volcanic mountain range. Its narrow valleys, Berber culture, adobe buildings, terraced fields, rock carvings, abundant flora and fauna, and the warm hospitality of its people make this trek an absolute must.

After the great experience of summiting Toubkal, what better complement than aa camel ride by the Sahara Desert, with an overnight stay in a camp set up by our local guides.

On our last day, we will travel to the city of Marrakech, to enjoy its wonderful culture, gastronomy, markets, …

A very complete adventure, in which we will have Local guides, cook, mules, camels,… An experience you shouldn't miss and a unique opportunity to discover these spectacular mountains and the world's largest desert, which we are lucky to have so close by.

Trekking Itinerary

 

Meeting at the airport of Marrakech (460m), and transfer to the town Berber of Imlil (1,770m), in the heart of the Toubkal Valley, about 64 km south of the city of Marrakech, our starting point for the trek, where we will spend the night in the wonderful Riad Tizi Mizik. Depending on your flight's arrival time, we may have some free time in Marrakech. Dinner in Tizi Mizik and a briefing on the route.

After breakfast at the Kasbah Tizi Mizik, In the Berber village of Imlil we met with our local team (local guide, porters, cook and mules) to begin the trek. We started walking along mule trails, passing through the village of Armed (1,850m), towards Marabout Sidi Chamharouch (2,350m), a place of pilgrimage, where we will enjoy a delicious meal. We continue enjoying the breathtaking scenery of the Atlas Mountains. A stop for traditional tea in Imi n'Tifrite, then we'll go through the Isgan n'Wagouts corrals, to reach the Neltner refuge (3,207m) of the French Alpine Club, where we will spend the night. Despite the tough day ahead, everyone will be happy to stay in such a place.

 Day of ascent to Toubkal (4,167m). We'll get up early, around five in the morning, to make the ascent safely. We'll first climb to the pit of Akhbi n'Tizi (3,700m), from where we continue ascending gently through a wide gully, to reach the Toubkal Pass (3,950m), from where we will climb up the Ridge of Toubkal, which will leave us in the summit of Toubkal At 4,167 meters, weather permitting, we will enjoy spectacular views of the Atlas Mountains. We will descend to Imlil via the same route we took to ascend, where we will spend the night at the wonderful Riad Tizi Mizik, enjoying a well-deserved dinner after reaching our goal.

Day of travel to the Sahara Desert. We depart from Imlil, heading towards the desert via the Tizi n'Tichka pass. We will visit the beautiful Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, location of numerous films, where almorwe will tie, very close to Ouarzazate, the film city of Morocco. We will cross the magnificent Skoura oasis, Kalaat M'gouna, then we will cross the Valley of Roses to reach the Dades Gorges, where we will spend the night in the hotel.

day of entry into the Sahara Desert, starting from the Dades Gorges towards Merzouga, visiting along the way the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs, Tinghir, we will make a brief visit to the Gorge of TouDr., Erfoud, Rissani and the magnificent oasis of Tifilalte, to finally reach Erg Chabi, in Merzouga, where hwe will do aa route on a camel to enjoy the sunset and reach the camp of Haimas in the desert where we will have dinner and spend the night under a spectacular starry sky, for a unique experience.

After a good breakfast, we will enjoy the sunrise at the Sahara Desert performing a route in camel to Merzouga, from where we will return to Marrakech via Erfoud. Stop in Ouarzazate for lunch, arriving at the hotel in Marrakech in the afternoon. Free time in Marrakech.
