High Route of the Lost - Pyrenees

On our first day, we'll climb through a beautiful, green valley to the Bujaruelo Pass, climbing nearly 1,000 meters in elevation over approximately 4 km. From the pass, we have picture-postcard views, with panoramic views of part of the Gavarnie Valley. We turn off towards the RSarradets refuge, nestled in an incredibly beautiful place, in the heart of the Gavarnie circus and just below the Roland's Gap, which we will reach after a small climb. If the weather is good, we will detour to reach the summit of Taillón (3,144 m). From La Brecha, we will descend to the Collado del Descargador, to head through the Llanos de Millares to the Góriz Shelter (2,200m), where we will spend our first night after a spectacular day.

Distance: 16 km. Elevation: +1,690 m – 830 m

Day of ascent to the third summit of the Pyrenees with 3,348m, Monte Perdido. An exceptional summit that will leave no one indifferent, both for its importance and for the views we'll enjoy of the Ordesa Valley, the Añisclo Canyon, the Pineta Valley, and all the peaks we'll see. A summit to enjoy and cherish forever. On the descent, we'll return to the Góriz Refuge (2,200 m), where we'll spend our second night after a spectacular day.

Distance: 10 km. Elevation: +1,150 m -1,150 m

Last day of trekking. From Góriz we set off along the GR11 towards the Arrablo pass to descend along the Arrablo bank towards the beginning of the impressive Añisclo Canyon, where we must go up the valley to the Collado de Añisclo. At this point, we will once again contemplate the magnificent Pineta Valley and part of the route that awaits us tomorrow. A long descent will take us to the Pineta Parking, from where a short walk will take us to the Pineta Shelter, where we will spend the night.

Distance: 15 km. Elevation: +850 m – 1,800 m

We started the day heading towards the Pineta Balcony and ascending to it via the beautiful Cinca waterfalls through endless zigzags. From the balcony of Pineta, one of the most spectacular and impressive places in the Pyrenees, where we can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the Pineta Valley, as well as the North Face of Monte Perdido, with its retreating glacier, the North Face of Cilindro and in the background the ridge of the Astazus. To the right we find the Marboré Lake and the Gap and Refuge of Tucarroya, where we are heading to cross the Estaubé cirque. Once we have descended the Tucarroya canal, we will head towards the Col de Alans, from where we will already see the Espuguettes Shelter, where we'll rest after a tough but excellent stage. The views from the refuge are worth the effort.

Distance: 16 km. Elevation: +1,510 m -770 m

A long day lies ahead. Once we have descended into the beautiful valley of Gavarnie, unable to stop contemplating the spectacle of its circus at the bottom of the valley, with the highest waterfall in France, 420m, and the Roland Gap in the background, we headed towards the Grange de Holle to enter the beautiful and wild Ossoue Valley taking the trans-Pyrenean GR10 and gaining height to the Ossoue Lake, where the climb soon becomes more difficult, climbing parallel to the Ossoue waterfall, crossing snowfields, waterfalls from the Ossoue Glacier, and the Bellevue caves to reach the Baysellance Shelter (highest refuge in the Pyrenees at 2,650m) where we will spend the night.

Distance: 21 km. Elevation: +1,590 m -940 m

We begin the day with a short climb to Hourquette de Ossoue, from where we head to our third 3,000-meter summit, Petit Vignemale. From the summit, we descend to the Oulettes de Gaube refuge, offering excellent panoramic views of the north face of Vignemale. From here, we begin the final climb of the day to Puerto de los Mulos, from where we begin a long descent through the Ara River valley, passing the great Ara River cirque and its source, to the idyllic Bujaruelo Refuge, where we enjoy a magnificent dinner, a well-deserved rest, and conclude this magnificent trek.
