15 Ándara Peaks, Eastern Massif of the Picos de Europa

IMG_1433

In the Eastern Massif of Picos de Europa, the most modest peaks of the National Park rise, but they are no less attractive for being lower. Its views make up for its modesty and enhance its presence and history, as well as that of the Massif, which has managed to recover after suffering significant human activity through mining operations. It is still a place where you can enjoy wild, uncrowded terrain, which gives it a very important added value in these times of crowded and overcrowded tourism.

We will climb 15 exceptional summits during 3 intense but wonderful days in these beautiful mountains, stayingIt is in the only refuge in the Massif, the Casetón de Ándara, which makes up for its modesty with excellent and friendly treatment, which we will also enjoy.

Trekking Itinerary

From At the Hito de Escarandi, we set off for the Casetón de Ándara along the beautiful Canal de Las Vacas. Once at the refuge, we'll leave our belongings, grab the essentials, and begin our summit trek, starting with the double peak of Macondiú.We'll then head toward Samelar, San Carlos, Junciana, and La Rasa de la Inagotable, ending at Grajal Castle and descending to the refuge, where we'll enjoy a well-deserved dinner and the best treatment from its excellent guard.

Distance: 15 km. Elevation: +1,500 m -1,100 m

A day of climbing to the highest peaks of the Massif, with spectacular views of the Massif Central. We'll ascend the peaks of Valdominguero, Pica de Jierru, Picos del Jierru, Morra de Lechugales, Silla del Caballo Cimero, Silla del Caballo Bajero, Grajales, and Sierra Mojones in a spectacular day. We'll return to the refuge to recharge, rest, and enjoy a magnificent sunset.

Distance: 14 km. Elevation: +1,300 m -1,300 m

We leave the modest but excellent Casetón de Ándara refuge to head towards the last peak of this adventure: Picu Boru, from which we will enjoy an excellent panoramic view of the Massif Central and the village of Sotres at our feet. From the summit of Boru, all that remains is to descend to the Jitu de Escarandi, where we conclude this excellent summit trek.
